One difference matters more than the rest of the table.
How Internal Link Juicer works
Internal Link Juicer maps keywords to target URLs and links them automatically wherever they appear, at render time. Nothing is written into your post content, which means removing the plugin removes every link cleanly. For a large archive, configuring it once and walking away is a genuine advantage.
How Silotree works
Silotree proposes each link individually, with the sentence it will sit in, and writes it into the post only when approved. Slower on purpose: a keyword rule cannot tell whether this particular paragraph is the right place, and at volume that produces the same anchor pointing at the same page from four hundred posts.
Internal Link Juicer adds its links when the page is shown, not in your posts, so they disappear when you deactivate it — worth knowing before you switch. Silotree only adds, and writes links into the post itself, so the ones you approve stay even if you later remove Silotree.
Silotree and Internal Link Juicer, row by row
Shaded rows are where Internal Link Juicer is stronger.
| What it does | Internal Link Juicer | Silotree |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic keyword linking | Yes | No — optional auto-approve for strong matches only |
| Set once and forget | YesStronger | No |
| Leaves post content untouched | YesStronger | No — writes, with undo |
| Each link reviewed before it exists | No | Yes, unless you turn on auto-approve |
| Prevents one anchor pointing at many pages | Partly: each keyword has one target | Yes, refuses to create it |
| Density ceiling per post | Yes, links per page and per target | Yes, with a ceiling marker |
| Knows which page needs the link most | No | Yes, ranked |
| Finds unlinked posts and dead ends | Basic | Yes, free and complete |
| Search Console in the ranking | Not documented | Yes |
| Free with no account | Yes, core plugin | Yes, whole audit |
If any of these describe you, we would rather say so than take your money.
You want it configured once and left alone
Rules apply to everything you publish from then on with no further work. That is the entire appeal and we do not offer it.
You never want your post content touched
Render-time linking leaves post_content untouched, so uninstalling removes the links. We write into the post, with a revision and an undo, which is a different trade.
Your archive is enormous and mostly uniform
Where every post is about one of ten subjects, rules do most of the work and review is overhead.
Before you decide
Is automatic internal linking bad for SEO?
Not inherently. The risk is repetition: one keyword rule applied across an archive gives hundreds of pages the same anchor pointing at one URL, which is the pattern search engines discount and sometimes penalise. Rules are fine where the archive is uniform and reviewed where it is not.
Does Silotree support rules at all?
Not by default. Every link is proposed with the sentence it will sit in, and nothing is written until it is approved — unless you switch on auto-approve for strong matches, which you can turn off at any time and undo batch by batch.
What happens to the links if I stop using Silotree?
They stay. They are ordinary links in your post content, and they keep working with the plugin removed.
